Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at serendipities@uppertunity.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We offer fresh, handmade catering for meetings, events, celebrations, and gatherings. Everything is made from scratch in our kitchen, so you can expect food that feels thoughtful, colourful, and full of flavour.

Our menu includes both hot and cold options, with plenty of variety depending on the season and what is looking best.

Cold options can include: savoury pastries and mini quiches, wraps, sandwiches, and sandwich platters, seasonal salads, dips with crudités, fruit skewers, cakes, traybakes, and sweet treats

Hot options can include: curries, hearty chilli, macaroni dishes, stovies, stews and hot pots, veggie haggis dishes, and warming seasonal specials.

Because we like to use seasonal ingredients and make food fresh to order, fillings and flavours vary.

Example fillings include: roasted Mediterranean vegetable, coronation chickpea, teriyaki vegetables, curried vegetable, herby roasted veg, chutney and caramelised onion, spiced cabbage and carrot slaw, smoky tomato and lentil, sweet chilli veg, creamy pesto vegetable

Our sausage rolls and pastries also come in a range of flavours, from classic comfort-style combinations to more colourful seasonal specials.

Our food is designed to be enjoyed together. We believe catering should bring people to the same table, not separate them into different corners. That is why we create menus that are naturally inclusive, full of flavour, and enjoyable for everyone, whether they usually eat this way or not.

It also reflects our values. We care about people, the planet, and creating food that feels good, tastes good, and works well for groups.

We are happy to discuss preferences, but we do not offer an endless fixed menu.

Part of what makes our catering special is that we work with what is fresh, seasonal, and available. That gives us room to create food that tastes good, avoids waste, and keeps things interesting.

If you have favourites, dislikes, or dietary needs, tell us and we will do our best to create something that works for your group.

Yes, many of our dishes are naturally made without gluten, and we regularly prepare catering that works well for people avoiding gluten.

That said, we do work in a kitchen where gluten is used. We prepare carefully, use separate utensils where possible, and take dietary needs seriously, but we cannot guarantee a fully gluten-free environment.

If you have specific dietary requirements, just let us know and we will talk you through the best options.

Yes, that is one of the things we do best!

Our food is designed to make catering simpler and more inclusive, so groups can enjoy the same spread together without it feeling complicated or overly restrictive. We find this works especially well for workplaces, community events, and mixed-group gatherings.

Our hot food is delivered hot and ready to serve in 10-litre heated soup urns. We simply need access to a plug socket, and we can bring extension leads if needed. This setup works really well for events, meetings, and group lunches. And yes, we have served 8 soup urns at one time!

You can choose your main dish and add sides to build a menu that suits your event. Our minimum order for hot food is for 10 people. For groups over 20, we can usually offer 2 or 3 main options.

It means your order does more than feed people.

Serendipities is part of a wider social mission. The income we generate helps support opportunities for people with additional support needs to build confidence, develop skills, and be part of meaningful activity. We also care deeply about reducing food waste and using food as a way to connect people.

All orders will receive an invoice via Xero. Payments can be made by Stripe Card payment, bank transfer, PayPal, or card payment upon delivery/collection.

Yes, we do. Delivery charges depend on distance. For orders outside Dundee, we usually ask for a minimum order value of £200 to make delivery viable.

If you are unsure, just get in touch and we will let you know what is possible.

Yes. If you would like help with setup, serving hot food, or making sure everything runs smoothly, we can provide this too. Just let us know what kind of event you are planning and we can discuss the best option.

We recommend getting in touch as early as possible, especially for larger orders. We can become very busy very quickly.

That said, if you need something at shorter notice, it is always worth asking. If we can make it happen, we will try.

We cater for a wide range of events, including:

  • meetings and training days
  • community events
  • workplace lunches
  • conferences
  • celebrations
  • exhibitions and launches
  • small private gatherings

If you are not sure whether your event is the right fit, just ask.
